Looking after your Paving

Looking After Your Paving

Limestone and Sandstone is a natural stone and as a result of that, the slabs will discolour and change to a slightly lighter shade of blue over time.

However, there are ways to hinder the fading process and in order to ensure the colours remain as fresh and vivid as possible, we highly recommend purchasing a sealer alongside your order with us to ensure the natural colour remains for years to come.

Sandstone and Limestone Differences

What is the Difference Between Limestone and Sandstone Paving?

There are several qualities between Limestone and Sandstone Paving Slabs that are very similar and this is because both of these paving slabs derive from natural stone quarries based in India where large forms of natural stone have developed over thousands of years.

As the more economical option, Limestone is a tad bit more brittle in comparison to Sandstone. But please don't forget that once Limestone has been installed, the durability will be the same as Sandstone Paving, therefore you won't need to worry about the slabs getting damaged.

One factor to take note of is that Limestone will naturally discolour as time passed, whether or not you have applied Sealant to the slabs. And this eventual fading does require some maintenance and TLC to retain the original colour as long as possible. Maintaining the original colours in Sandstone Paving is a little easier in comparison.

We supply a varied range of Sandstone and Limestone Paving that come in different types and styles. We supply Sandstone and Limestone paving slabs in a Weathered Paving version, with Sandstone Paving slabs can also be bought as Sawn Paving too. If you also want matching garden edging or a nice patio paving border, matching Cobble Setts are also available for both Sandstone and Limestone Paving.

Taking all these factors into consideration deciding between Sandstone Paving or Limestone Paving, it really depends on the colours you are looking for, and whether or not you are not bothered about your Indian Limestone fading over time. Both require the same upkeep and have a lovely rustic look to them.

Why Choose our Natural Paving

Our paving slabs are calibrated to a 22mm depth which ensures perfect size consistency, long-lasting durability and high quality when laying the slabs.

These slabs are much more porous than other paving materials, especially when compared to Porcelain Paving slabs. This high porosity is a result of the fact that Limestone and Sandstone are naturally developed stones and because of this they will also show signs of discolouration as well, but fear not! Using a sealer can "lock in" the colour of your slabs for years to come.
