Weeds have a habit of finding every gap, between paving joints, up through gravel, even into fresh turf. A quality weed control membrane stops them at the source, blocking growth from below while still letting air, water and nutrients reach the soil.

Where should I use a weed membrane?
Anywhere you want a low-maintenance finish: under gravel and decorative stones, beneath bark mulch, under artificial grass and within paving and driveway build-ups. It is far easier to lay the membrane at the start than to fight weeds later.
Will a membrane stop water reaching my plants?
No. Weedcheck is designed to be breathable, letting air, water and nutrients pass through to the soil so surrounding planting can thrive. It blocks weed growth, not the things your garden needs.
Which membrane grade do I need?
Standard Weedcheck suits most decorative areas such as beds, borders and gravel gardens. Choose Weedcheck Ultra for driveways and high-traffic surfaces, and Groundcheck or Stratacheck where ground stabilisation and separation matter as much as weed control.
How do I install a weed membrane?
Clear and level the ground, roll out the membrane and overlap adjoining strips by around 100mm. Pin it in place, then cut a cross where you want to plant through it. Cover promptly with your gravel, bark or surface material.
How long does the membrane last?
Weedcheck carries a 15-year guarantee when covered. Keeping the fabric protected from direct sunlight beneath gravel, bark or paving is what preserves its strength over the long term.
Can weeds still appear on top of the membrane?
Occasionally wind-blown seeds will germinate in the surface material above the fabric, but because their roots cannot anchor through the membrane they pull out with almost no effort. Growth from below is stopped altogether.
