EASYJoint is a leading UK jointing compound brand, trusted by both professional landscapers and homeowners. Renowned for creating the original sweep-in jointing compound, EASYJoint remains the only true all-weather paving joint compound manufactured in the UK. Its proven adaptability and versatility have made it an essential, go-to product for paving and landscaping projects nationwide.
Available in a range of colours, EASYJoint is designed to complement almost any paving style. In addition to Mushroom, the collection includes Stone Grey, Buff Sand, and Basalt, offering excellent coverage across a wide variety of paving shades and finishes.
EASYJoint grout is quick, effective, and easy to apply, delivering a clean, professional finish to patios and pathways. It is suitable for use with natural stone paving such as sandstone and limestone, as well as porcelain paving. For best results, joints must be a minimum of 3mm wide (5mm is ideal) and at least 25mm deep.
Application is straightforward and ideal for DIYers of all experience levels. Simply dampen the paving with water, sweep the compound into the joints, and wash it in—allowing the water to activate and settle the material.
The Mushroom shade offers a light beige, sandy tone that pairs beautifully with pale paving such as cream or white, while also creating a striking contrast against darker options like anthracite—making it a versatile choice for a wide range of outdoor designs.

How to Use EasyJoint
As mentioned above, EASYJoint is quick and simple to use, making it ideal even for first-time users. To help you get the best results, we’ve put together this easy step-by-step guide for applying jointing compound to your paving.
How to Apply EASYJoint
Step 1 – Check Your Joints
Before you begin, inspect your paving and ensure the joints are suitable. They must be at least 3mm wide (we recommend 5mm) and a minimum of 20mm deep for the compound to perform correctly.
Step 2 – Wet the Paving
If you’re working with natural stone paving such as sandstone or limestone, thoroughly soak the slabs before starting. A hosepipe works best, but a watering can is perfectly fine if needed.
Step 3 – Apply the EASYJoint
Once the paving is fully wet, pour the EASYJoint compound directly onto the surface.
Step 4 – Activate with Water
Add water to the compound to form a slurry, allowing it to flow easily into the joints.
Step 5 – Sweep Into the Joints
As you add water, begin sweeping the compound firmly into the joints. Work quickly and thoroughly to ensure the material fills the gaps before it begins to dry. Working in pairs is ideal—one person sweeping while the other adds water as required.
Step 6 – Fill Completely
Don’t be afraid to use plenty of compound. If needed, add more EASYJoint and continue until all joints are fully filled. In warmer weather, work especially efficiently, as the compound will dry more quickly.
Step 7 – Rinse and Compact
Once all joints are filled, give the paving a final rinse to remove excess residue. This also helps compress the jointing compound further, creating a stronger, smoother finish and leaving your paving looking clean and refreshed.
Step 8 – Finish the Joints
Finally, smooth the joints with a pointing tool to achieve a neat, professional-looking finish.
PLEASE NOTE:
EASYJoint is not suitable for poorly draining or consistently wet ground conditions. As a natural, permeable product, it allows water to pass through freely. When first applied, the jointing compound appears bright in colour; however, due to its permeability, it may gradually collect dirt and change in appearance over time. Some natural growth of algae or mould can occur, but this is usually light and can be easily cleaned away.
EASYJoint has a compressive strength sufficient to withstand pedestrian use and domestic vehicle traffic, but it is not intended to act as a structural component of a path or driveway. The long-term performance of any paving project depends on the slabs being properly bedded onto a well-prepared base, constructed to the correct specification.

What is the Difference Between Porcelain and Sandstone?
When selecting paving materials for your outdoor spaces, Porcelain and Sandstone offer distinct qualities suited to different preferences and requirements.
Porcelain Paving
Porcelain is a manufactured material designed to replicate the aesthetic of natural stone while delivering superior durability and minimal maintenance. Its production involves vitrification, where pure clays and minerals like quartz are heated to temperatures exceeding 1200°C. This process results in:
Durability: Porcelain slabs are exceptionally strong, resisting scratches, stains, and wear over time.
Non-Porous Surface: Being waterproof and resistant to mold, moss, and frost makes Porcelain ideal for wet climates or areas around pools.
Minimal Maintenance: Unlike natural stone, Porcelain retains its texture and color without sealing, requiring only basic cleaning.
Safety: With an R11 skid rating, Porcelain provides excellent grip even in wet conditions, ensuring safety in high-traffic or family-friendly areas.
Modern Aesthetic: Its refined, sleek appearance works well in contemporary garden designs.
Sandstone Paving
Sandstone, a natural material sourced from quarries (primarily in India), exudes a traditional, rustic charm. Its distinctive riven texture and natural variations make it a popular choice for homeowners seeking a timeless appeal.
Eco-Friendly: Sandstone’s porous nature allows rainwater absorption, aiding in natural drainage and potentially reducing flood risk.
Natural Aging: Over time, Sandstone develops a weathered patina, appealing to those who enjoy a vintage or aged aesthetic.
Maintenance: Regular sealing is needed to preserve its colors and protect against weathering. Without sealing, its hues gradually fade to softer, lighter tones.
Traditional Look: Sandstone’s textured finish and natural variations add warmth and character to outdoor spaces.
Comparative Overview
Feature Porcelain Sandstone
Durability High—resists wear, weather, and stains Moderate—requires sealing and upkeep
Maintenance Low—easy to clean, no sealing needed High—regular sealing to maintain color
Water Absorption Non-porous—completely waterproof Porous—absorbs water, aids drainage
Aesthetic Sleek, modern, and consistent Natural, rustic, and textured
Environmental Impact Low water absorption limits eco benefits Supports rainwater absorption
Cost Generally higher upfront cost More affordable, but with ongoing upkeep
Choosing the Right Option
Your decision should align with your aesthetic goals, maintenance preferences, and environmental considerations:
Opt for Porcelain Paving for a modern, sleek look with minimal maintenance and long-term durability.
Choose Sandstone Paving for a traditional, natural vibe with environmental benefits and a rustic charm.
Both materials bring unique advantages, allowing you to tailor your choice to your lifestyle and outdoor needs.
