Why Choose Porcelain Cladding?
Durability and Longevity:
Porcelain cladding is exceptionally durable, and designed to endure extreme weather conditions, UV exposure, and moisture. Its long-lasting resilience makes it a smart, cost-effective option for building exteriors, ensuring it maintains both function and appearance for years.

Low Maintenance:
One of the key benefits of porcelain cladding is its minimal maintenance. Resistant to stains, mould, and mildew, it doesn’t require sealing. Regular cleaning with water and mild soap is sufficient to keep it looking new, making it a hassle-free option.

Aesthetic Versatility:
Porcelain cladding offers an extensive variety of colours, textures, and finishes, including realistic imitations of natural stone, wood, or metal. This flexibility allows architects and homeowners to create striking, unique facades that suit any style.

Water Resistance:
Thanks to its non-porous nature, porcelain cladding does not absorb water, making it ideal for regions with high humidity or rainfall. Its water resistance also helps prevent damage from freeze-thaw cycles, ensuring long-term durability.

Fire Resistance:
Porcelain is a non-combustible material, providing excellent fire resistance. This enhances building safety by helping prevent fire spread, making it a reliable choice for exteriors.

Environmental Friendliness:
Made from natural materials and recyclable at the end of its lifespan, porcelain cladding is an eco-friendly option. Its long durability and low maintenance further contribute to its reduced environmental footprint over time.

Thermal Efficiency:
Porcelain cladding can help improve a building’s thermal efficiency by acting as an additional layer of insulation, which can help regulate interior temperatures and reduce energy consumption for heating and cooling.

Resistance to Fading:
The colours and patterns in porcelain cladding are baked into the material at high temperatures, making them resistant to fading from prolonged sun exposure. This ensures that the cladding’s aesthetic remains intact for years to come.

Scratch and Impact Resistance:
Porcelain’s hardness makes it highly resistant to scratches and impacts, allowing it to withstand daily wear and tear without compromising its appearance, making it a durable choice for both residential and commercial applications.

Versatility in Application:
Porcelain cladding is incredibly versatile and suitable for both exterior facades and interior feature walls. It’s easy to install using a strong adhesive, making it a practical option for various design projects.

By maintaining porcelain cladding with simple cleaning practices, you can ensure it remains beautiful and durable for many years.

How to Maintain Porcelain Cladding
Routine Cleaning

Regular Dusting: Use a soft brush or microfiber cloth to gently remove dust and dirt from the surface of the cladding.
Water and Mild Soap: For general cleaning, mix warm water with mild detergent. Gently clean the surface using a soft brush or cloth, and rinse with clean water afterward.
Pressure Washing: Occasionally, you can use a pressure washer on a low setting. Be sure to avoid high pressure to prevent potential damage to the cladding surface.
Stain Removal

Non-Abrasive Cleaners: For stains, use non-abrasive cleaners made for porcelain surfaces. Steer clear of harsh chemicals that could harm the surface.
Vinegar Solution: For tougher stains, combine water and white vinegar. Apply to the stain, allow it to sit, and then scrub with a soft brush before rinsing thoroughly.
Avoid Harsh Tools and Chemicals

No Abrasive Tools: Avoid using tools like steel wool, abrasive pads, or sandpaper, as they can scratch and damage the cladding.
No Strong Chemicals: Steer clear of highly acidic or alkaline cleaners, which could degrade the porcelain's finish.
Damage Inspection and Repair

Regular Inspections: Periodically check the cladding for any cracks or chips. Catching damage early can save you from more costly repairs later.
Repairing Cracks and Chips: Use porcelain repair kits to fix small chips or cracks promptly, preventing water from seeping in and worsening the damage.
Impact and Weather Protection

Minimize Impacts: Be cautious around the cladding, avoiding heavy impacts or placing large objects directly against it.
Sealant Application: While porcelain usually doesn’t need sealing, applying a high-quality porcelain sealant can offer added protection, especially in areas with harsh weather conditions.
Weather Shielding: If possible, shield the cladding from extreme weather like intense sunlight or heavy rain.
Mould and Mildew Prevention

Ensure Drainage: Proper drainage around the cladding prevents water pooling, which can lead to mould and mildew buildup.
Clean Mould Immediately: If you notice mould or mildew, clean it immediately with a solution of water and bleach, then rinse thoroughly.
Seasonal Maintenance

Winter Care: After winter, inspect the cladding for any damage from freezing temperatures and make necessary repairs quickly to avoid long-term issues.
By following these tips, you’ll ensure your porcelain cladding stays in top condition, maintaining both its beauty and durability for years to come.

What is the Difference Between Porcelain and Sandstone?
When selecting paving materials for your outdoor spaces, Porcelain and Sandstone offer distinct qualities suited to different preferences and requirements.

Porcelain Paving

Porcelain is a manufactured material designed to replicate the aesthetic of natural stone while delivering superior durability and minimal maintenance. Its production involves vitrification, where pure clays and minerals like quartz are heated to temperatures exceeding 1200°C. This process results in:

Durability: Porcelain slabs are exceptionally strong, resisting scratches, stains, and wear over time.

Non-Porous Surface: Being waterproof and resistant to mold, moss, and frost makes Porcelain ideal for wet climates or areas around pools.

Minimal Maintenance: Unlike natural stone, Porcelain retains its texture and color without sealing, requiring only basic cleaning.

Safety: With an R11 skid rating, Porcelain provides excellent grip even in wet conditions, ensuring safety in high-traffic or family-friendly areas.

Modern Aesthetic: Its refined, sleek appearance works well in contemporary garden designs.

Sandstone Paving

Sandstone, a natural material sourced from quarries (primarily in India), exudes a traditional, rustic charm. Its distinctive riven texture and natural variations make it a popular choice for homeowners seeking a timeless appeal.

Eco-Friendly: Sandstone’s porous nature allows rainwater absorption, aiding in natural drainage and potentially reducing flood risk.

Natural Aging: Over time, Sandstone develops a weathered patina, appealing to those who enjoy a vintage or aged aesthetic.

Maintenance: Regular sealing is needed to preserve its colors and protect against weathering. Without sealing, its hues gradually fade to softer, lighter tones.

Traditional Look: Sandstone’s textured finish and natural variations add warmth and character to outdoor spaces.

Comparative Overview

Feature Porcelain Sandstone
Durability High—resists wear, weather, and stains Moderate—requires sealing and upkeep
Maintenance Low—easy to clean, no sealing needed High—regular sealing to maintain color
Water Absorption Non-porous—completely waterproof Porous—absorbs water, aids drainage
Aesthetic Sleek, modern, and consistent Natural, rustic, and textured
Environmental Impact Low water absorption limits eco benefits Supports rainwater absorption
Cost Generally higher upfront cost More affordable, but with ongoing upkeep
Choosing the Right Option
Your decision should align with your aesthetic goals, maintenance preferences, and environmental considerations:

Opt for Porcelain Paving for a modern, sleek look with minimal maintenance and long-term durability.
Choose Sandstone Paving for a traditional, natural vibe with environmental benefits and a rustic charm.
Both materials bring unique advantages, allowing you to tailor your choice to your lifestyle and outdoor needs.
