Pea Gravel 14mm
As well as being a very popular garden addition, Pea Gravel is also considered as a luxurious decorative garden stone. Consisting of natural browns with the odd, white stone that glistens in the light, this makes a great palette for a variety of property types.
This decorative chipping is made of a Quartzite Gravel, which is considered a precious and sought-after stone due to its stunning colours and occasional sparkly stone. Due to it's rounded shape, this stone is classed as a semi-rounded aggregate.
Our Pea Gravel is also available in sizes: 10mm gravel and 20mm gravel.
14mm Pea Gravel Features
- Locally-sourced garden stone
- Derived from Quartzite

Pea Gravel for your Garden
Pea Gravel is very commonly used as decorative garden features. Due to their array of gold browns, brick reds and cream coloured stones, this semi-rounded garden chipping matches well with traditional red brick houses as well as modern homes.
Why not add Pea Gravel as a decorative garden border? It really sets off either garden paving or garden decking with the contrast of colours. It even looks great as its own, separate rockery feature in your garden.
Pea Gravel for a Pond or Water Feature
Due to its fish-friendly properties, Pea Gravel is perfectly safe to use within your garden ponds that currently have animals in it! With its array of natural colours, it fits really well when placed around or in a pond and ties the look together well.
Whether you've got a shop-bought water feature in your garden or you've created your own, natural water feature out of decorative stone, Pea Gravel makes for a great addition as it adds some extra colour interest. The colours deepen when wet and look even more impressive!

How to Lay a Gravel Garden Feature
When adding Pea Gravel as a decorative garden feature, it's a pretty straight forward project that may be executed by an experienced DIYer! For the best hints and tips, read our how-to guide below.
Generally speaking, we would always recommend installing a stable base for the stone to go on; Limestone Type 1, also referred to as MOT Type 1, would be suitable, which is a graded, 40mm Limestone.
Measure the space in which you'd like to contain your decorative stones; you can then use our Quantity Calculator to work out how much stone you'll need. We would suggest having a base of 50mm.
Dig out the desired area with a depth between 50mm - 150mm, ensuring this includes 50mm for your MOT Type 1 base and 50mm for your Pea Gravel.
Add your 40mm Limestone Type 1 to your dug-out area and ensure a minimum of 50mm is laid. Not only will this provide a durable base, but it will also aid drainage.
We recommend installing a layer of Weed Fabric to ensure pesky weeds don't start coming through the fabric; these come in multiple sizes for you to choose from.
Once the fabric has been laid, you can start putting your Pea Gravel down! Remember to add this to at least a 50mm depth.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
