Rustic Slate Rockery Stones
If your dream garden needs some large rockery features to make it look complete, then don't overlook our brand-new Rustic Slate Rockery. This new addition to our popular rockery range will enable you to add a picturesque, natural look to your garden. With their coppery, brown shades, they will suit all types of gardens, both domestic and commercial.
The Rustic Slate will look particularly effective with dark-coloured features such as Green Slate or our range of Plum and Green Paddlestones. Both of these options will allow you to create a unique and colourful garden feature, appropriate for both your front and back garden. As is the case with most decorative stones, their colours bloom brighter when wet, they become more pronounced and you will be able to appreciate the colours. These rockery pieces are also fish-friendly meaning you can safely use them to decorate your garden pond without worrying about your fish.
Each piece of the Rustic Slate Rockery is roughly 250mm in size, but as they are a natural product, the sizes can vary.
Rustic Slate Rockery for Your Garden
If you are thinking about adding Rustic Slate Rockery to your front or back garden, we have some innovative and beautiful design ideas for you. As the rockery pieces are larger than other decorative stones, you will need a smaller number of pieces in order to create a garden feature, which overall will be a more affordable option when compared to purchasing smaller stones. These rockery pieces are big enough to be used amongst other features like your plants and flowers or as a centrepiece, as they mesh well with the surrounding nature.
A further way to utilise our Rustic Slate Rockery is to lay them out as dividers around your garden. Rockery as a garden border is a unique and natural way to add dividers between different types of landscaping, for example, you can use them to create a barrier between your paved patio and the grass area. If you are really meticulous, you can even purchase paving that complements the Rustic Slate, therefore creating a more cohesive look.
Rustic Slate Rockery for Your Water Feature
However big or small your garden is, adding a water feature makes for a great viewing point in your outdoor landscape. The great thing about water features is that you can buy or make them as big or small as you like. Plum Slate Rockery goes really well within a rockery pool in your garden, which are great for attracting a whole host of wildlife.
Other water features can include ponds; you can make them as jazzy as you want! You could add water fountains to really make it a statement piece, or simply have it as a small, self-contained pond. If you use Plum Slate Rockery in your garden pond, you can still add fish to it due to its fish-friendly properties.
How to Make a Garden Pond
Building a pond in your garden is more straightforward than you might anticipate. All you need is a visit to your nearest garden centre, get your hands on a plastic pond and we can get started. Carefully look through your garden and figure out where to place your pond. Be careful when deciding the spot as you don't want somewhere that gets too much sunlight, but you also don't want to place it directly under a tree because then you'll have to constantly fish for leaves to keep it looking clean.
Once you've determined where your pond will go, decide whether you want it ground level, or whether you want to dig a hole and place the pond slightly underground (which may make it look more natural). Or you can raise it even further above ground by using the sleepers below.
The best part of creating your own garden pond is to be able to decorate it. Start the process with smaller stones such as slates and cobbles, they work well as a good base layer, then consider putting in Paddlestones which are slightly bigger for some variety and added texture; then as the finishing touch, add in some of our Rockery pieces to really add more dimension to the pond. To make the pond look as natural as possible, we suggest some water-friendly plants that will make it look like your pond was part of the landscape all along.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
