40-75mm Green Slate Paddlestones
Deriving from the riverbeds of Scotland, our Green Slate Paddlestones are a popular decorative garden stone with a really unique colouring; consisting of an array of metallic green colours both light and dark. Our Green Slate Paddlestones have a rounded appearance, due to being worn by running water, as well as being tumbled at the quarry.

The sizes of these slate stones vary between 40-75mm which makes them the ideal addition to a water feature, pond or river. Green Slate Paddlestones for Your Garden
When looking at Slate and Paddlestones for your garden, there are many ways you can incorporate them while making your landscape look natural and beautiful. One popular way of adding Paddlestones is to choose an area in your garden where you want a feature, to act as a focal point. This could simply be a border around your flowers or it could be a dedicated space in a circular shape, filled with our Slate Paddlestones.
You don't need to buy many bags of Slate Paddlestones to make them go far, due to their large shape, you could get away with buying a couple of small bags to simply edge a pathway leading up to your home in either your front or back garden. Many people have added it to the front of their house as something colourful to look at when they arrive at their house.
Green Slate Paddlestones as a Water Feature
If you have a garden pond, these decorative stones make an eye-catching addition whether you're considering adding it around your pond or within your pond. These lime-free stones are completely safe to use in a garden pond and will act as a surface for some small animals to perch on in your pond.
A popular water feature for larger gardens is a natural rockery pool; you'll want to add larger Slate Rocks or Boulders to create this look, and you could also add a water pump to have a multi-dimensional water feature for all to enjoy. By adding Paddlestones to a rockery feature, you're adding some natural colours which will really give it the wow-factor.

How to Create a Garden Pond
Garden ponds are slowly becoming more and more popular. There are many different types of garden pond you can create in your landscape; you could have a smart, modern one sitting with some garden paving. Or you could create a small part of your garden completely dedicated to wildlife; featuring a garden pond fit for plenty of wildlife to enjoy. If you want to create your own garden pond, read our how-to guide below for the best tips and tricks!
1. The first step, and one of the most important steps, is choosing the best place for your pond to be installed. Try and avoid placing your pond under trees if you can, as you'll find yourself clearing leaves out of it most days, and it can disrupt the wildlife in there. We would also recommend choosing a spot that gets both shade and sun throughout the day, as it can act as somewhere cool for birds to retreat to.
2. Next, decide how big or small you want your pond to be, and where you're going to source your pond from. If you want a ground-level pond, you can buy plastic ponds from your local garden centre. If this is the case, mark the desired area with spray paint to ensure it matches the size. If you're looking at creating a raised pond, you could either use retaining Sleepers lined with a plastic sheet, or even upcycle an old bath tub!
3. If you're creating a ground level pond, dig out the desired area to the correct depth. You can use Scalpings to fill in any gaps after you've added your pond.
4. Once this is done, you can start adding your water! Consider buying a plug in or solar powered water pump to create more of a water feature; you can even add a small water fountain to take it to the next level!
5. Lastly, think about how you'd like to decorate it. If you want it to look like a natural rockery pond, start with the larger Rockery stones like Green Slate Rockery and then move onto small stones like Slate Paddlestones. Purchase some water plants from your local garden centre, and you have yourself a beautiful pond!
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
