If you're opting to use Black Basalt Chippings as a decorative garden border or feature, it's recommended you start with a sturdy base; for this, use Limestone Type 1, also referred to as MOT Type 1, which is a graded, 40mm Limestone, and lay it around 50mm depth. You don't always have to do this for decorative features but is recommended for drives and pathways.

On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour.
