A common place where you will find the Silver Play Sand is on artificial beaches. Councils prefer Silver Play Sands due to the fact that they are very non-toxic and don't run the risk of staining your clothes. This in turn makes them family-friendly and safe to have around young children.

Soft Play Sand for Golf Bunkers

If you have ever visited a golf course, you will have noticed a large expanse of areas filled with sand. More often than not, those areas are filled with Soft Play Sand. The reason landscapers use Soft Play Sand for Golf Bunkers is that you can buy them in large quantities for a fraction of the price and also because they will not irritate the players' eyes or skin.

Furthermore, due to the fineness of the sand, they are a great landing pad for golf balls. That's not all, because the sand is so much softer, the golf club will move more sand, more smoothly and therefore divot that is created will be naturally deeper and longer, especially when compared to harder sand.

As stated above, Soft Play Sand is a very fine type of sand, meaning they are easy to rake through and maintain and adaptable to various environments.

What are the different Sand options?

You may or may not be aware, that there is a wide variety of sand that we supply and that is widely available in Landscaping and Building supplies centres. It is important to be aware of which type of is required for your project as different landscapes require different types of sand because as we have already established, they come in widely different textures.

As you are aware, sand is a naturally occurring material that is created over years and years from eroded and broken-down rocks. To be able to call the eroded substance 'sand' the grains must be between 0.6m and 2mm in size. 

As a result of the factors stated above, and is a popular and in-demand substance because while it seems like we have an infinite amount of sand available to us, especially when you see such large quantities of them at the beach, they will eventually start to dwindle. The eventual decrease in quantity will lead us to look for more sustainable methods and materials to get by.

The sand that we receive, and most suppliers receive is particularly developed for commercial uses and therefore has to go through multiple tests and strict screenings to be labelled as such. The screening is essential as it will make sure that there are no sharp objects and unwanted debris in the sand. 

You will also notice that the Soft Building Sand looks the most like the sand that we have in playgrounds. It is a very light beige that reflects the sun in a complementary way. There are varieties of sand that are a little darker and some that look almost orange - namely the 'Orange Building Sand'. The colours are dependent on the iron levels within the sand so the more iron, the more orange it will be.

There are sands that are labelled 'Builders Sands' that are often used for bricklaying and to line ponds. There is also plastering sand, which when mixed with water and cement creates a substance that has many uses within landscaping projects.
