The most common use for Cement is within building applications. When it comes to building an interior or exterior wall, you can rely on Mannok General Purpose Cement to have a top-quality consistency as well as being effective in its purpose. Mannok is a globally recognised brand and manufacturer of many different ranges of Cement. Their General Purpose Cement is one of their highest quality products and is very easy to work with. What makes Mannok Cement great is that it tends to leave a smooth, consistent surface and is superior in its drying performance. This makes it great to use as a floor screed. Cement is usually mixed to form two different mixtures: Concrete and Mortar. Concrete is the substance used by Builders which is most commonly used for bricking walls and creating building foundations. To create Concrete, you just add water to the Cement. Mortar, on the other hand, consists of Cement that gets mixed with Sand as well as water, and is therefore not as strong as concrete. The consistency is almost like glue; an adhesive that tends to be used for Landscaping applications such as laying paving stones. For larger projects, we'd recommend hiring a concrete mixer, however, there are other, smaller pieces of equipment that can help you mix smaller quantities of concrete. If you're unsure of the ratios of each material, there is usually a handy guide on the back of the packaging of Cement. As a rule of thumb, when making Concrete, it's usually 1 part cement, 2 part water and 6 part aggregates, but will vary depending on the application. In the process of mixing Cement, you can sometimes come into contact with small pieces of dust or debris; for this reason, you should wear thick safety gloves, a mask and goggles for protection. You'll need various different pieces of equipment when mixing Cement or Mortar; tarpaulin being one of them to protect other surfaces from the Cement mix. You'll also need your mixing board in place before you start adding the ingredients together. First, measure your ingredients by using the ratio guide. You would have already needed to determine the amount of Concrete or Mortar mix to know how much of each ingredient you need. Then, using a sturdy shovel, begin mixing the ingredients together. You're looking for the mixture to turn into one, consistent colour, so turn the mix at least four times. You'll also need to keep checking the mix and adjusting as and when necessary. Once everything is mixed, you can start using your Concrete or Mortar; Concrete is usually poured onto the desired area while Mortar is often shovelled out or trowelled out depending on the amounts you need. Ensure you clean everything thoroughly once you're finished with the cement. If you have any leftover cement, this can be stored in a cool dry place for use within 3 months. Always use your cement within the use-by date. Sample Soil is available in-store, please ask a customer advisor.
