Grey Ledger Stone Walling
As showcased on DIY SOS, our Ledger Stone Walling is a sought-after choice for those seeking a distinctive exterior for their property.
Ledger Stone is a composite stone material crafted from concrete, natural stone, and iron-oxide pigments, resulting in a diverse range of hues. The manufacturing process employs various moulds to create stones with varying thicknesses, imparting a dynamic texture and appearance. Vibrations are introduced during production to generate a spectrum of natural-looking colours.
Describing Ledger Stone is akin to blending Natural Sandstone Walling with Porcelain Cladding. It combines the earthy tones of natural stone with the vintage charm and durability of manufactured porcelain cladding, yielding a sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic.
Our Silver Grey Ledger Stone Walling features a predominant light grey hue with subtle streaks of white. This modern yet understated colour adds a touch of elegance and character to any property without overwhelming the surroundings. Each stone segment is meticulously designed to mimic the organic patterns found in natural stone, seamlessly blending with the natural elements of a garden landscape.
What is Ledger Stone Walling?
The process of ledger stone walling entails arranging these stones in a pattern or stack, often secured with mortar or adhesive. Stones can be positioned horizontally or vertically, depending on the desired aesthetic and structural needs. The resulting wall exudes a rustic, organic charm, with the stones' texture and variation enhancing visual appeal.
Ledger stone walling is renowned for its durability, versatility, and aesthetic allure. It infuses indoor and outdoor spaces with character and warmth, while the natural variations in colour and texture impart a distinct and individualistic appearance. Moreover, installing ledger stone walling can be relatively straightforward compared to other forms of masonry or stonework, making it a preferred option for both DIY enthusiasts and professional installations.
Silver Ledger Stone Walling for Your House
Ledger stone walling stands as a versatile and visually striking option for a myriad of architectural and landscaping endeavours, spanning both indoor and outdoor environments. Its multifaceted utility is exemplified in various applications:
Exterior Cladding: Adorning the exterior walls of buildings with ledger stone walling imparts a charmingly rustic or authentically natural aesthetic. This transformative addition enhances the curb appeal of residential homes, commercial structures, and other architectural constructions, lending them a distinctive allure.
Interior Accent Walls: Within interior spaces like living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, and entryways, ledger stone walling is often employed to fashion accent walls. These textured surfaces imbue rooms with depth, intrigue, and a cosy ambience, elevating the overall design scheme.
Fireplaces: Ledger stone walling serves as a captivating framework for both indoor and outdoor fireplaces, enriching their visual appeal with its innate beauty. The organic allure of the stone enhances the fireplace's role as a focal point, fostering an inviting atmosphere ideal for relaxation and social gatherings.
Retaining Walls: In landscaping endeavours, ledger stone walling finds its place in the construction of retaining walls. These structures offer essential support on sloped terrains, curbing soil erosion while introducing visual interest and dimension to gardens and outdoor landscapes.
Water Features: Ledger stone walling lends itself admirably to the creation of water features like fountains, ponds, and waterfalls. The natural texture and appearance of the stone harmonize seamlessly with the fluidity of water, fostering serene and tranquil outdoor settings.
Landscape Borders: Utilized as decorative borders or edging for pathways, flower beds, and garden perimeters, ledger stone walling bestows structure and definition upon outdoor spaces. Its presence adds a touch of sophistication while delineating boundaries with style.
Pool Surrounds: Enhancing the ambience of pool surrounds, ledger stone walling offers a refined backdrop for poolside lounging areas. Its natural elegance elevates the aesthetics of the space, creating an inviting atmosphere conducive to relaxation and leisure.
For those contemplating the integration of ledger stone walling into garden features, a harmonious pairing with decorative stones is recommended. Selecting hues that complement the silver-grey tones of the cladding enhances the garden's visual cohesion and uniformity. Given the naturalistic effects of the cladding, it integrates seamlessly with other garden elements, such as Natural Stone Paving and Porcelain Paving, fostering a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing outdoor environment.

How to Install Stone Walling
While we generally recommend seeking professional assistance for landscaping and cladding projects, installing Ledger Stones is a manageable task for individuals with moderate DIY experience. These stones are lightweight and straightforward to install on a plain wall, making them accessible to those with basic handyman skills.
To begin, carefully measure the wall where you intend to install the stone cladding and purchase the required amount from our website, over the phone, or in-store. Any leftover pieces can be returned within 28 days, provided they are in resealable condition.
Prepare the wall by sanding it down to ensure a smooth surface free of flakes and dirt that may hinder adhesion. Next, lay out the cladding pieces to visualize the desired look. Ledger Stone Cladding offers a varied, natural appearance, so take time to plan the arrangement accordingly.
Trim any overhanging segments of the cladding using a high-quality tile cutter, as these pieces are non-refundable. Apply tile adhesive to the wall using a trowel, aiming for a substantial layer. Installing the cladding at a 45-degree angle helps ensure adequate adhesive coverage.
Notice the slight angle on the bottom half of the cladding tiles, designed to create natural-looking joints. Begin laying the tiles from one corner outward, following the predetermined layout. The tiles are butt-jointed and do not require adhesive or grout between the joints. Press firmly on each segment to ensure secure attachment to the wall.
Allow the pieces and adhesive to rest on the wall for several hours before checking their progress. It's advisable to keep the area dry for 24 hours to allow for complete drying. While DIY installation is feasible, seeking professional guidance or assistance is always recommended for optimal results and peace of mind.
