We have found that our Beige Porcelain Cobble Setts are popular with those who enjoy a relaxing and contemporary outdoor space. These Porcelain Block Pavers are a great match for those that have light-coloured paving including beige paving slabs, cream paving slabs or buff paving slabs. A common way to use Porcelain Cobble Setts is to line the edges around soft or hard landscaping as a border - this can be applied in both front and back gardens. These Setts make for an excellent finishing touch to add a more professional and chic look to your garden. It will give off a modern look that is desired by many households. A popular design choice that is favoured by our customers when it comes to using the Cobble Setts is to create a border around their garden paving slabs, or an area in their garden that can be utilised all year round for things such as al fresco dining, evening gathering, parties and much more. These Cobble Setts will enable you to add that extra detail to your garden to make it extra special, and being able to match the colour with the paving makes the patio look seamless. Soft landscaping such as Artificial Grass or a Naturally Turfed areas also get enhanced when they have a border around them in complimentary colours. If your garden has both hard and soft landscaping areas then borders are essential to differentiate the areas and make them look decorative, which overall makes your garden look beautiful. When it's time to start installing your Porcelain Cobble Setts, we suggest it is undertaken by a Landscaping or Building Professional as they have more in-depth knowledge of the materials and process. However, if you have DIY experience and have done big projects before, there is no reason why you cannot undertake this project yourself. As one of the largest Builders Merchants in the country, we are proud to be able to supply nearly all the equipment you'll require to install the Beige Porcelain Cobble Setts. Please keep in mind that some equipment may to be hired, notably the Wacker Plate is one that is not readily available in shops. The first step is to measure out the area where you'll be placing the Cobble Setts. No matter if you are laying them in a straight line or designing a full garden patio, taking accurate measurements is essential as it will allow you to calculate exactly how many Cobble Sett pieces you'll need to complete your project. Once you know how much you need, go ahead and purchase them and mark out where they will go with either string or spray paint. Proceed to start digging your chosen area and keep going until the depth reaches at least 200mm. Be careful when you do this and remove any debris, vegetation and unwanted materials, which will give you a clean, smooth surface to work with. A Spirit Level will come in handy here as it can tell you definitely whether your surface is level or not. Once the area is dug out and is as level as possible, we suggest you add a 100mm layer of MOT Type 1. First, go ahead and lay out 50mm of the product and using a compacting place, push the Type 1 down. Once that's done, you can put in the remaining 50mm of MOT and repeat the same process as before. Now that the sub-base is properly laid, you have to make your mortar mix. The steps for that are to Mix 3 parts of Sand with 1 part of Cement and 1 part of water. Mix carefully until it looks like a workable slurry that can be used as a base for the Cobble Setts to go on. Go ahead and spread the mortar mix in a thick layer all over the MOT sub-base. When doing this, make sure there is a slight angle to the mortar mix bed. This is done because the paving stones will be laid at an angle and therefore water will be able to flow down without issue. Now you are finally ready to start installing your Beige Cobble Setts in. Get yourself a Rubber Mallet and softly tap the setts into place. Make sure leave a gap between 8-15mm between the stones. If you are considering adding jointing to the Cobble Setts, we have a few options you can choose. We are proud to be stockists of the global brand Azpects Easy Joint, which is always a safe option along with their newly introduced Easy Joint Select range. You can also go with VillaFix Porcelain Grout which we also stock and is a more cost-effective option. Or if you want to go a different route, you can go ahead and make extra mortar mix and use that as a homemade and affordable jointing for your Cobble Setts. But keep in mind that it will only be one colour whereas if you go with Azpects of Villafix you will have a wider range of colours that will complement your Cobble Setts. Sample setts are available in-store, please ask a customer advisor. Read More...
