Ocean Mist Porcelain Cobble Setts are a really unique colouring which consists of a light blue/grey colour. As you may have guessed, this colour takes inspiration from the cool, calm colours of the ocean, which makes it a perfect choice for those houses that are placed by the sea. Grey Cobble Setts are a great choice for your garden, as they can act as a modern border for many different garden features. It looks especially impressive when paired with the matching Ocean Mist Porcelain Paving. Cobble Setts are so versatile when it comes to adding them to your garden; and are so easy to buy as single setts, as well as install. Read some of the most popular uses for Cobble Setts below for garden ideas. The most popular use for Cobble Setts is laying them as a border to your new or existing garden patio. Whether you have Porcelain Paving slabs or Natural Stone pavers already installed, these Sienna Cobble Setts would look great as a border, offering that professional, finishing touch, and protecting the edges of your garden paving. As well as bordering patio paving stones, Cobble Setts also look great around green areas such as Artificial Grass or Turf Grass. Sometimes it's nice to have something border your garden, or separate it from another feature. If you're in need of small garden ideas, Cobble Setts make for a great addition! If you're looking to have a small garden patio, you could lay these setts instead of larger paving slabs. You have more options when it comes to setts, as you have greater flexibility in the shape of your patio, as well as the size. Likewise, Cobble Setts also make great pathways leading up to a larger patio. If you're considering laying our Porcelain Cobble Setts, generally speaking, we would advise using a professional Landscaper. However, Cobble Setts are fairly easy to lay for the experienced DIYer, and are not too heavy to use either. Therefore, if you feel like you have adequate experience and all the equipment needed, you may be able to complete this yourself. Start by measuring the area that you'd like to lay your Cobble Setts. This step is important as measuring it means you can calculate how many Cobble Sett pieces you'll need - we recommend adding +10% too. After buying your paving slabs, mark out the desired area with string or spray paint. Next, using your Landscaping Shovel, begin digging this space to a depth of at least 200mm. It's important to remove obstructions such as stones and weeds for a clear area to work with. If you have a Spirit Level, use this to ensure the surface is more or less level. Once your area has been dug out and more or less level, we would recommend adding a 100mm layer of MOT Type 1. Start by laying 50mm, then using your compacting plate to compact the material down. After this, you can proceed to lay another 50mm of MOT aggregates, and repeat the same process. Now your sub-base has been laid, you can start to make your mortar mix. This can easily be made by mixing three parts of Sand to one part of Cement and one part of water. This mixture needs to resemble a workable slurry that you can lay your Cobble Setts on. Spread the mortar mixture thickly across your MOT sub-base, ensuring there is a slight angle to the mortar mix bed, so the paving stones can be laid at an angle that will ensure water can run down it. You're now ready to start laying your Cobble Setts. Use a Rubber Mallet to gently tap these into the desired place, leaving around an 8mm - 15mm gap between the stones. When it comes to jointing the Cobble Setts, we have many different options that are available. We have the globally-recognised brand, Azpects Easy Joint that can be used, as well as their new Easy Joint Select range. Otherwise, you can always make extra mortar mix and use this as a cost-effective option to join your Cobble Setts together. The only negative to this is that it will be the one standard colour, whereas the above grouting options come in a range of colours to choose from. Sample setts are available in-store, please ask a customer advisor. Read More...
