You can also consider using these chippings to create a border around the garden that will add subtle colouring to your garden while still maintaining the aura of simplicity and minimalism. A garden design idea could be to mix these chippings with some black and white decorative garden stones to create an eclectic feature area in your garden. Please keep in mind that the Quantock Grey Chippings are not fish-friendly and therefore, if you choose to use them to create a pond, it would need to be devoid of fish. However, they are safe to use with plants and flowers which enables you to create feature areas and mini rock gardens should you wish to - they will add more texture and colouring than your traditional flower garden. When considering serious landscaping projects, our first advice is to always hire a seasoned professional so nothing goes wrong. But in saying that, laying out these chippings throughout your garden is not a complicated process and can be completed by anyone with a previous DIY experience. To start you on your way, we have created a little guide to help. Firstly you need to make sure that you have a stable base before laying out your chippings for a driveway. Limestone Type 1, also referred to as MOT Type 1, which is a graded, 40mm Limestone, is what is most commonly used to even out driveway surfaces. Before you start installing anything, make sure that you have accurately measured the area that you will fill with your chippings. Once you have done so, you can use our Quantity Calculator which will work out the amount of sub-base and chippings you will need for your chosen area. We recommend that you have a base of 50mm We also suggest investing in Grid Stabilisers that have been created specifically for large areas that will get a heavy foot or vehicle traffic. These are especially useful for situations like long drives or if you live on a private road. As a general rule, we always suggest that you also lay a layer of Weed Fabric in your garden to keep all the unwanted weeds away. We supply them in a variety of sizes so you have a great range of options for your garden. When creating borders within your garden, you can lay the Quantock Grey right on the existing surface, be it in Artificial Grass, Turf or Weed Fabric. PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour. Read More...
