20mm Moonstone Gravel
Sourced from the Oxfordshire countryside, Moonstone Gravel is one variety of gravel that we stock at Stone Zone, alongside products such as Golden Gravel and Pea Gravel, which are just a couple of our popular ranges of Decorative Stones. Our range of Shingle and Gravel has been one of our longest-standing best-sellers for their variety of uses.
Containing a wide colour variety of stones, with shades ranging from brown, white, grey and cream, the 20mm Moonstone Gravel is one of our most unique decorative flint stones. This particular range of garden stones is an angular chipping, developed from high calibre, exceptional flint stones.
Due to these garden stones being 20mm in size, they are perfect for use on pathways and driveways. As we have stated before, these stones are angular in shape, meaning they will be able to lock together to create a stable platform for cars and pathways. When choosing gravel for this purpose, you have to make sure that they are at least 14mm in size, and at an angular shape, they will not be stable if you use rounded stones for your driveway.

20mm Moonstone Gravel for Your Garden
The moonstone is a cornucopia of colours, with whites, greys, creams, and browns all mixed creating a unique array of colours. Because of the wide range of natural colours, and the fact that they are not too bright, they would be wonderful for both classic, red brick houses and modern homes with more muted colours, whether you use them as a garden feature or on your driveway.
Adorning your garden with the 20mm Moonstone Gravel will add more colours and composition that will spruce up your garden instantly. Moonstone Gravel is used in a variety of different ways, but a really popular use for them is to border larger garden features such as Patio Paving and even an area that contains Turf Grass.
20mm Moonstone Gravel for a Pond or Water Feature
The 20mm Moonstone Gravel is a marvellous way to decorate the area around a water feature to make it more natural-looking. This will be aesthetically pleasing irrespective of whether the water feature is man-made or natural; these stones will be a great way to decorate either option. The variety of colours within these stones is even darker and more vivid when they get wet. The colours become far richer and the stones seem to have a glossier finish, making them even more attractive to look at.
Moonstone is also a great way to decorate the inside and outside of your pond. If you want to create a truly pleasant feature area within your garden, the 20mm Moonstone Gravel will help you achieve that look. As these Gravel stones are fish-friendly, they will be perfect if you were, for example, to create your koi pond, and you won't need to be worried about harming your fish.

How to Install Moonstone Gravel in Your Garden
If you want to start a DIY project that's fairly easy and super rewarding, then you'd benefit from installing the Moonstone Gravel in your garden. At Stone Zone, we take great pride in supplying the highest quality decorative stones and the appropriate equipment to lay them as simply as possible. Have a gander through our helpful little guide to get you ready with some starting information so you know what to be ready for.
1. Ensure that you have carefully measured out the area you will be laying the Moonstone Gravel. When you have marked the area you want to be covered, you will be able to use our Quantity Calculator on our website, which will calculate how much space Moonstone Gravel and base layer you will need.
2. The first step when installing any type of decorative stone in your garden is to build a stable base. The best material to use for this is Limestone Type 1, also referred to as MOT Type 1, which is a graded, 40mm to dust Limestone. Please make sure that you do not forego this step, it is vital for decorative stones and is even more crucial for driveways and pathways.
3. We also highly recommend that you use Weed Fabric for this project. This will give your garden extra protection against weeds and ensure that they won't be springing out in-between the stones. The fabrics come in a wide range of thicknesses and sizes so you will be able to pick one that will fit your garden.
The only maintenance that is required on your part is to top the stones up every year to ensure that they are as level as they can be.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal they’re true colour.
