50mm Crushed Concrete
As a leading Builder's Merchant in Dorset, at the Stone Zone, we are proud of our extensive Trade range which has been growing since we were established in 1998. Our Crushed Concrete bags make up this high-quality, great-value range for Landscapers and Builders alike.
Also known as Type 1 Hardcore, these aggregates can be used for a multitude of Landscaping and Building applications; including sub-bases for driveways, patios and building foundations.
Our Crushed Concrete derives from recycled, unwanted Concrete that has come from various building and landscaping sites. This process makes our Crushed Concrete an inexpensive choice when it comes to using it as a sub-base.
With these aggregates being a recycled material, it also makes it highly environmentally friendly; no virgin materials are found within Crushed Concrete and the transportation of the unwanted concrete all happens locally; tipping it at local sites that crushed the concrete down.

If you're looking for a great value sub-base for building foundations that will stand the test of time and conform to regulations, look no further than Crushed Concrete! Obtaining similar properties to Aquaflow and Type 1 Limestone, Concrete must still meet certain specifications for commercial uses such as building sites. This certification ensures there are minimal amounts of debris that make the material safe to use on large-scale projects. As well as being good value, it's also highly durable; with the nature of Concrete usually lasting for years to come, as long as it has been made and set properly, stands it in good stead when it is then taken up from the ground and crushed down to size. Another great benefit of these recycled aggregates is that they are permeable. This is a huge consideration for builders now, with ever-changing regulations about sub-bases being 100% permeable to prevent floods on site. This contributes to its positive environmental impact and makes it a popular item in flood-prone areas. Many Landscapers will opt for Crushed Concrete for sub-bases for garden patios and driveways as well. With sub-bases needing to be durable and permeable, this makes Crushed Concrete the perfect solution. When combined with a material like Scalpings, Crushed Concrete works really well as a sub-base layer for either Natural Stone Slabs or Block Paving. As the size of the pieces is a maximum of 50mm in size, they are then graded right down to dust, which works well when it comes to filling in small gaps. In addition to a paving base, they are also great when it comes to laying a sub-base for driveways that consist of decorative aggregates such as Shingle or Golden Gravel. With these aggregates being so durable, there will be minimal crushing under parked cars, so makes for a stable sub-base. As well as using Crushed Concrete for applications such as patios and driveways, you can also use this as a foundation for garden sheds. As aforementioned, with these aggregates being permeable, it will help with the prevention of floods when you are adding something to your garden which could potentially impact the absorption of rain. Many people don't realise that our Crushed Concrete is a 100% recycled material. With the rise of home and garden owners wanting to renovate their properties, there is also a rise of people removing concrete bases in their gardens or around their houses. Many Landscapers or Builders who have carefully removed this unwanted concrete from their customers' houses, need somewhere to safely dispose of this. There is a local site in Dorset that takes this concrete, with the idea of crushing it down to various sizes and screening it to ensure there is no unwanted objects in it. These recycling sites can be found all over the UK, but with ours being in Dorset, it makes the process much better for the environment, reducing the amount of carbon emissions created by minimal transport to our Dorset warehouse. The screening process ensures consistent sizes of particles with the Crushed Concrete, as well as 50mm Down Crushed Concrete, we also supply 75mm Down Crushed Concrete. To ensure our Crushed Concrete then meets certain requirements and to achieve the specification, dangerous objects and debris are then removed for commercial safety. This Crushed Concrete then arrives at our Distribution Centre in Dorset in large, loose loads for us then to bag up in our branded bulk bags, ready for delivery to customers. PLEASE NOTE: While every effort has been made to ensure our landscaping and building materials are free from contamination; there is always the chance that there may be small pieces of debris present. Please ensure you handle the sand with care when using it. Sample Soil is available in-store, please ask a customer advisor.
