Due to their size and shape, Apricot Pebbles are perfect for a garden pathway, or a pathway that wraps around your house. As well as being comfortable under foot, it's also hard wearing, so will last a long time, and of course, looks amazing! This makes the stone comparable to our sturdy, Decorative Chippings. As with many of our decorative stones direct, the array of colours can really be appreciated when Apricot Pebbles are submerged in water. Therefore, if you have a Water Feature in your garden, whether it's a natural one or a manmade shop bought one, why not add a couple of bags of Apricot Pebbles to sit in the water? It will really enhance the look of your water feature and make it completely unique! If you're lucky enough to have a garden pond, they always look so much better when they have some colour and sparkle added to them. Apricot Pebbles are completely fish-friendly, making them the ideal addition to any pond. You could either sprinkle some stones around the pond, within plants, or you could put the stone within the pond to admire the colours through the water. Although modern gardens enjoy sleek and contemporary designs, many of them also include an area within the garden that has a 'wild section' designed to encourage all kinds of wildlife in an attempt to create a more eco-friendly garden. There are many different types of garden ponds you could create; a raised one to avoid small animals such as hedgehogs falling into the pond, or one within the ground. Read our basic, how to guide below for instructions on creating your own ground-level pond! 1. Mark out the area in which you'd like your pond to go, but plan carefully! Ask yourself questions like 'is this pond under a tree?' and 'do I get hedgehogs or cats in my garden that could fall in?' Once you've decided on where you'd like the pond, consider the size of it too. You want it to be manageable, so don't go too big if you don't have a lot of time to up-keep it. Once you've pondered on these factors, use a spray paint to roughly mark out the pond area. 2. Dig the desired area to at least 30cm deep. The depth of your garden pond is entirely up to you, again, you want it to be manageable in case you need to clean it, so maybe consider a fairly shallow pond. 3. Once the area has been dug out, you'll want to add some air tight geo fabric that will hold the water. You can also buy plastic ponds that you could fit your dug out hole around. Some of these even have multi layers so you can dig a little deeper. 4. We would recommend adding some Rocks or Boulders if you've gone for the geo fabric option. This will weight the fabric down nicely as well as make your pond look nice and natural. 5. Add fresh water and any decoration. Once you've weighted the fabric down and ensured there are no gaps, you're ready to start filling your pond with water. People also enjoy adding water plants such as lily pads to create a pond paradise! The last touches are then adding some fish-friendly Pebbles or Slate stone. PLEASE NOTE: Due to our Decorative Stones being a naturally-sourced product, there will always be some variation from batch to batch, especially in terms of colour. On occasion, your garden stones may be very dusty; we recommend hosing your new stones down to wash them and reveal their true colour. Read More...
