Caliza Indoor Porcelain Tiles
If you’re drawn to darker tones and a sleek, monochromatic aesthetic, the Caliza Anthracite Porcelain Tiles are an ideal choice for any modern home.
Once installed, Caliza Indoor Tiles offer impressive durability, making them a valuable long-term investment. You can enjoy peace of mind knowing your flooring will remain in excellent condition for years, even in high-traffic areas.
Porcelain Tiles are naturally stain-resistant due to their specialized manufacturing process, making them particularly suited for kitchens and bathrooms where spills are common.
These tiles are also remarkably low-maintenance; beyond regular sweeping to keep them clean, they require virtually no upkeep, making them a practical yet stylish flooring solution.
Caliza Outdoor Porcelain Slabs
Dark grey has remained a popular choice for gardens and patios, with charcoal slabs offering easy versatility to complement various garden color schemes. Anthracite Porcelain Slabs, in particular, are engineered to endure both frost and heat, a practical feature for the UK’s unpredictable weather.
These slabs are non-porous, preventing water absorption so any spills can be wiped away easily, reducing the risk of staining. Their deep grey color also pairs well with other garden features like fresh turf, artificial grass, and decorative stones, allowing you to design a harmonious outdoor space.
Additionally, these slabs resist grime, mold, and stains, making them ideal for family homes where spills and outdoor elements are common. For added safety, they’re rated R11 for slip resistance, providing a secure surface in wet conditions and around pools.
How to Install Caliza Anthracite Indoor Porcelain Tiles
Installing indoor porcelain tiles can be a detailed project, and while it’s often best to hire a professional, experienced DIYers can achieve great results by following this guide.
Materials and Tools Needed
- Porcelain tiles
- Tile adhesive (thin-set mortar)
- Grout
- Tile spacers
- Tile cutter or wet saw
- Notched trowel
- Grout float
- Level
- Measuring tape
- Rubber mallet
- Sponge and bucket
- Chalk line
- Safety gear (gloves, safety glasses)
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
Clean the Subfloor: Start with a clean, dry, and level surface. Remove old flooring, debris, and adhesive.
Repair Any Damage: Fix any cracks or uneven spots in the subfloor. If working over wood, ensure the subfloor is sturdy and free from rot.
Install a Tile Backer Board: For additional stability and moisture protection, install a cement backer board, securing it with screws and taping the seams with fiberglass mesh tape.
Step 2: Plan Your Layout
Measure the Area: Calculate the number of tiles needed, accounting for cuts and some extra for waste.
Dry Layout: Place the tiles on the floor without adhesive to map out the arrangement and minimize cuts. Mark the room’s center with a chalk line for a starting point.
Check for Level: Use a level to ensure the surface is even; apply a self-leveling compound if needed.
Step 3: Apply the Adhesive
Mix the Adhesive: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to prepare the tile adhesive.
Spread the Adhesive: Use a notched trowel to spread adhesive over a small section, starting at the room’s center. Hold the trowel at a 45-degree angle to create ridges in the adhesive for better adhesion.
Step 4: Lay the Tiles
Set the Tiles: Begin by placing the first tile at the center, pressing it firmly with a slight twist for good contact.
Use Tile Spacers: Place spacers between tiles to maintain even grout lines.
Continue Laying Tiles: Work in small sections, periodically checking with a level to keep tiles even.
Cut Tiles as Needed: Use a tile cutter or wet saw for fitting tiles along edges and around obstacles.
Step 5: Grout the Tiles
Let the Adhesive Cure: Allow the adhesive to set, typically for 24 hours, as specified by the manufacturer.
Mix the Grout: Prepare the grout according to instructions.
Apply the Grout: Using a grout float, press grout into the joints at a 45-degree angle, wiping away excess grout with the float.
Clean the Tiles: After 15–30 minutes, wipe the tiles with a damp sponge to remove grout residue. Rinse the sponge often.
Final Cleaning: Once the grout has cured (about 24 hours), do a final wipe to clear any remaining haze.
Step 6: Seal the Grout (Optional)
Apply Grout Sealer: Protect the grout from stains and moisture by applying a sealer according to instructions.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
Remove Spacers: Once the grout is dry, take out the spacers.
Caulk Edges: Apply caulk where tiles meet walls or cabinetry for a clean finish and added flexibility.
By following these steps, you’ll achieve a polished, professional look that enhances any room with long-lasting porcelain tile.
