2025 Garden Trends
Get your garden ‘on trend’ this year with these inspirational ideas! From planting inspiration to planning out different garden sections – this is for anyone with a garden big or small.
Functional Sectioning
New homes are seeing smaller gardens, so it’s even more important to make the most of every inch of space you have.
2025 is seeing garden designers using straight lines to divide each section; this makes for a particularly modern-looking outdoor space. The separate sections are usually of different sizes too to create a variance.
Whether you’re trying to achieve curves or straight lines, metal Edging has been trending for a while now. Our Garden Edging is available in different heights, colours and materials and can be easily installed by being installed straight into the ground.
Create a Green Space
With the environment on everybody’s minds, create a space designated for plants. This will not only create a sanctuary for you to feel calm and relaxed in nature in the comfort of your own garden, but also do wonders for the environment.
A variety of plants will increase biodiversity; attracting bees, butterflies and even birds. It will also provide a great space for drainage during periods of very wet weather.
Here at the Stone Zone, we have every type of Soil no matter which types of plants you choose!
Charlie Says... Consider:
How much sun do I get in my garden and where is the sunniest spot?
If I don’t get a huge amount of sun in my garden, which plants would be suitable for me?
If I have a pet, are these plants pet-friendly?
Create a Garden Patio for Entertaining
The garden has recently been known as the ‘extra room’ in one’s home. It’s a great space to entertain guests or simply enjoy some al fresco dining. It makes sense to dedicate a section of your garden so you can enjoy it by yourself or with loved ones around you.
The most popular flooring for an entertain space is Garden Paving. We sell Porcelain Paving for those wanting a sleek and modern-looking garden patio. We also sell Natural Stone Paving for those wanting something more rustic and traditional. Both options hold a huge amount of weight, making them ideal for placing a table and chairs, or maybe even a BBQ or firepit.

Charlie Says... Consider:
Do I want to use garden furniture and how much space do they take up?
How even is my ground and what is the drainage like?
Will I be using a BBQ? (Porcelain Paving is stain-resistant!)
Create a Lawn
A luscious, green lawn will also benefit the environment (if you choose Turf Grass) and having this section will naturally break up your other sections.
Whether you want low maintenance Artificial Grass or a proper Turf Grass lawn either will provide a whole host of opportunities. If you have children, they will enjoy playing on a soft lawn, likewise, if you have pets, they will benefit from having this space to run around in or relax in the sun.
Charlie Says... Consider:
Do I have the time to maintain a Turf Grass lawn?
How much of my garden would I like to be a lawn space?
Trendy Pathways
If you have a larger garden and would like a pathway to lead you through, you can make this look really smart by opting for a curved path or a straight path to divide your sections.
‘Unfinished’ paths are currently trending, which looks both natural and understated, meaning the main focus is still on your Patio, Lawn or plants. Our Path Gravel is perfect for this natural look, it is very easy to lay and nice to walk on. We also sell Path Chip, which is made from recycled wood chippings and also looks great.
If you’d like a path with a little more colour, take a look at our Gravel and Chippings; we sell decorative stones of all colours. Gravel and Chipping stones lock together to create a stable pathway or driveway which feels comfortable underfoot and looks really attractive.
Charlie Says... Consider:
Do I want to use Edging to define this pathway?
Do I want something colourful or natural looking?
Would I like to use Paving Slabs as stepping stones?
Planting for a Purpose
Going back to ‘Creating a Green Space’, let’s look at some trends on how we can do this in our garden.
When creating an area for plants, consider creating a plant bed. This can be made with Wooden Sleepers to a size and height of your desire; a raised bed is great for keeping out some unwanted insects.
Variable Height Planting
Plants of varying heights is trending in 2025; think plant beds that contain shrubs, perennials and evergreens all of which are different colours and scents. People are opting for this look as opposed to the one-dimensional look of the same kinds of plants in one section.
Vertical Planting
Vertical Planting also continues to trend in 2025, where some people are buying (or making) planters to attach to outdoor walls, garages and sheds to plant flowers or herbs in an upward direction. This not only looks trendy but is a huge space-saver!
