How to Apply Azpects EasyJoint Porcelain

Before starting, you need to absolutly ensure that the paving surface and the joints are COMPLETELY dry. If wet, then it could hinder the cohesion and long-term resistance of the product. 

Distribute the Compound
Pour the jointing compound over a small, manageable area of the paving.

Sweep into Joints
Use a broom to sweep the compound into the gaps between the paving slabs, ensuring the joints are filled completely.

Compact the Joints
For proper compaction, use a hand vibration tile beater. If you don't have one, a pointing tool will work as well. This helps settle the compound securely in the joints.

Top Up and Compact Again
Add more compound to the joints, and repeat the compaction process. Ensure the finish level sits just below the paving surface for a smooth result.

Sweep Away Excess
Use a soft broom to clear away any excess jointing compound from the surface.

Blast Away Residue
Use a leaf blower to remove any remaining fine particles. This will also help level out the compound in the joints.

Lightly Water the Joints
With a sprayer, gently mist the joints for 15-20 seconds. Stop as soon as the water is no longer absorbed. Avoid over-watering, as foaming indicates the binder is being washed away. Over-watering can weaken the joint structure.

Let the Joints Dry
Allow the area to dry for a minimum of 24 hours. In cooler conditions, drying will take longer. Ensure the area stays dry throughout the application and curing period to maintain the integrity of the joints.

FAQ's

To ensure a successful installation, porcelain paving must be securely bonded to the bedding mortar or base course. We recommend using Azpects EASYPrime as part of your paving system. Ensure the bedding mortar is free-draining to allow water from the jointing compound to escape properly. Once fully cured, the joint will be non-permeable. A suggested mortar mix is 6:1 (sharp sand to ordinary cement).

Weather Conditions
Installation should take place when the air and paving surface temperatures are above 10ºC (50ºF). For the best cohesion and long-term durability, the jointing sand should remain dry until fully cured—ideally for 24 to 48 hours. Cold or humid conditions may extend the drying time.

• Width: Minimum 3mm, maximum 13mm
• Depth: Minimum 19mm

Compaction
Proper compaction is crucial when using EASYJoint PORCELAIN Jointing Compound. If a vibration compactor is unavailable, use a hand tamper like a rubber mallet to ensure the joints are fully compacted. It may take several strikes to achieve the necessary compaction level. Insufficient compaction can lead to weak joints, while over-compaction might prevent water from adequately absorbing into the joint, causing activation issues.

Drainage Considerations
Ensure that water can drain through the sub-base to avoid water buildup, which can affect performance.

Additional Notes:

• Do not mix the product with cement or sand.
• Not suitable for areas prone to being constantly wet.
• Avoid sweeping over asphalt or tarmac surfaces.
• When applying to natural stone, ensure the surface is dry to prevent staining.
• Wait seven days before cleaning or sealing the surface after installation.
• Avoid high-pressure cleaners for the first 30 days after installation.
