How to Apply Azpects EasyJoint Porcelain

Before starting, you need to absolutly ensure that the paving surface and the joints are COMPLETELY dry. If wet, then it could hinder the cohesion and long-term resistance of the product. 

Step 1. Pour the product over a small, workable area

Step 2. Sweep the products into the joints until full

Step 3. Vibrate the joints using a hand vibration tile beater; if not you can use a pointing tool

Step 4. Top up joints and repeat compaction until finish is just below the paving surface

Step 5. Use a soft broom to sweep away excess compound

Step 6. Use a leaf blower to blast away any remaining fine product. This will also help levelling the jointing compound

Step 7. Precisely water the joints, using the sprayer for 15-20 seconds. Stop when the water isn't being absorbed anymore. Make sure to not over-water; if you notice foaming, it means the binding is being washed out, stop instantly. Over-watering will compromise joint integrity.

Step 8. Leave joints to dry. The area must not be watered for 24 hours minimum. Please note, drying time is longer in colder weather. And no matter what during the application and drying period, tha area and joints HAVE to be kept dry.

FAQ's

For successful installation, porcelain paving must be securely bonded to the bedding mortar/course. We recommend using Azpects EASYPrime as part of your paving setup. Ensure that the bedding mortar/course is free-draining to allow activation water to escape. Once set, the joint will be non-permeable. We suggest a mix of 6:1 using sharp sand and ordinary cement.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

Air and paving surface temperatures should be above 10ºC (50ºF) during installation. To achieve optimal cohesion and long-term resistance, the jointing sand must be completely dry before being exposed to rain (allow at least 24 to 48 hours). Note that drying times may be extended in cold or humid conditions.

Width: Minimum 3mm, maximum 13mm

Depth: Minimum 19mm

COMPACTION

Compaction is CRUCIAL when using EASYJoint PORCELAIN Jointing Compound.

If vibration compaction equipment is unavailable, hand tamping with a rubber mallet or similar tool can be used. However, this requires extra care to ensure the joints are adequately filled. Neglecting this step may compromise joint integrity and performance. To achieve the desired level of compaction, you may need to strike the joint multiple times. Be cautious with over-compaction, as it can reduce water absorption and activate the compound, while a poorly recessed joint may lead to premature degradation.

Ensure that application water can drain through to the sub-base. In areas where drainage is restricted, excess moisture can accumulate, negatively affecting the product's performance.

Important Notes:

• Do not mix this product with cement, sand, or any other materials.
• It is not suitable for areas that remain constantly wet.
• Avoid sweeping over asphalt or tarmac surfaces.
• When applying to natural stone, ensure the surface is completely dry to prevent staining, which may be difficult to remove and could require cleaning products that might damage the stone.

Wait seven days after installation to allow the joint to harden before cleaning and sealing the surface.

Additionally, refrain from using high-pressure cleaners for the first 30 days following installation.
