Azpects Easy Joint, Basalt
The prestigious brand, Azpects, are the inventors of the original, sweep-in jointing compound that is best-known as the "All Weather Paving Joint Compound" which has always been made in the UK, with sustainability and the environment in mind. Azpects EasyJoint is one of our best-selling paving products and is very popular when it comes to choosing a natural paving grout.
Easy Joint is available in five different colours, all of which emulate the natural colours of the Sandstone Paving we have available. EasyJoint is best used on natural stone paving, such as Sandstone Paving, but is also suitable for Concrete Paving and Porcelain Paving. For other jointing grout for Porcelain Paving, Azpects have created Easy Joint Select as well as Easy Grout.
As the name implies, EASYJoint is super easy to use – simply soak the paving with water before commencing and then simultaneously sweep and wash the jointing compound into the joints, letting the water take the strain. You also have the added benefit of joining paving without the need for kneeling and compressing the material by hand! For more information on how to use EASYJoint, keep reading!
The positive environmental factors of using EasyJoint is also what makes it an attractive choice. With increasing fears of flash flooding, customers are now looking for ways they can prevent this, and encourage good drainage in their garden. Once you have installed your paving with EASYJoint, you will enjoy the permeable features of this grout; rain will be able to easily pass through these joints without needing to be drained somewhere else.
What makes this jointing product so popular is the finished result; EASYJoint is superior in strength, resisting the outdoor elements and standing the test of time - proven to last longer than traditional jointing methods. It also looks great with the natural colours of the sands that make up the compound. It is suitable for all types of paving material provided there is a gap of at least 3mm wide and 25mm deep (narrow joint compound).
How to use Azpects EasyJoint Grout
When it comes to using EASYJoint, there isn't much landscaping experience or special skill required; although we would recommend you work with someone else, as this job is quite hands-on! Simply ensure you have a working hose pipe, a good quality sweeping brush and ideally a pointing tool, to finish the joints off.
Step 1
After you've had a look at our wide range of garden paving and chosen your favourite one, based on the size of the paving slabs you'd like, you'll need to measure the garden area in which you'd like your patio to go and make a note of it. To help you work out the amount of paving needed, bear in mind that paving joints need to be at least 3mm wide and 20mm deep.
Step 2
After you have laid your paving slabs, having left the required space to account for the joints, use your hose pipe to completely drench the paving stones in water, if you're laying permeable paving such as Sandstone or Limestone. Once the garden paving is wet, begin emptying out your EasyJoint compound on top of the paving, adding water to the grout until it forms a slurry.
Step 3
What makes EasyJoint so easy to use is the fact it is an all-weather compound so can be used on a hot summer's day or a cold winter's day. As their slogan goes... 'the wetter the better', so if it's raining this would make the perfect weather! Using your sweeping brush, generously brush in the jointing compound, with the assistance of your friend hosing the grout to ensure it stays wet. This part is the trickiest job, so try and complete this stage as quickly as you can to ensure the grout doesn't dry out, particularly in dry weather.
Step 4
Once you're happy that the joints have been completely filled, use your hose pipe liberally to remove any grout residue and ensure the joints are wet through. This step will make the entire area look clean, as well as compressing the compound further.
Step 5
Lastly, use a pointing tool to smooth over the paving joints to complete it and give it a smart look.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is not suitable for poorly draining or persistently wet site conditions. It is a natural product that allows water to permeate through. The product when freshly laid will be bright in colour but because of its permeability, it may over time become dirty and change in appearance. Some natural growth of algae and mould can occur, which can generally be easily cleaned away.
The compressive strength of EASYJoint is such that it will adequately take the downward forces exerted by pedestrians & domestic cars, but is not designed to form a structural part of the path/driveway. The integrity of the project can only be maintained if the surface material is adequately bedded into the base, which in turn is constructed to an appropriate specification.
