Grey Paving

Grey Paving Slabs have been a firm favourite colour choice for many years now; the subtlety of grey makes for a smart garden landscape or home interior that is easy to match with other features too. Whether it's a grey interior or grey exterior in your home, this colour emits a relaxing environment that looks luxurious and contemporary.

Umbra Grey Block Paving for Your Garden

If you've decided you want to re-vamp your tired, old driveway, why not consider our Sandstone Block Paving? Maybe you want something that's low maintenance, or maybe you're thinking you want something that adds value and looks really professional; Block Paving will achieve both! Using Block Paving on your driveway is the number one use of these pavers - read why this might be below!

Maybe you just want to create a small, simple garden patio area; in that case, Block Paving can be used for this too! Their smaller size, it gives you greater flexibility over the size and the shape of your patio. You could also use these to border an existing garden patio, matching the grey colours or opting for a nice contrast.

Why Choose Block Paving?

There are many reasons why people opt for block paving in their homes. One reason is how durable the paving stones are, especially when it comes to heavy footfall or cars. The 50mm thickness makes for a perfectly stable base if you were to use these for a driveway that holds multiple cars.

Ethically sourced and environmentally-friendly, Sandstone is a natural stone that is found in India; a stone that has actually been around for thousands of years! By choosing a Natural Stone Paving such as Sandstone or Limestone, it eliminates any manufacturing process that involves using lots of resources and electricity, making for a slightly more environmentally-friendly option.

Sandstone Block Paving is long-lasting and low-maintenance. These calibrated Block Pavers need sealing at first, with Azpects EasySeal Stone Sealer & Protector. Once this is done, there is very little maintenance involved; occasional sweeping of debris is recommended, and you could also jet wash the paving to keep the colour looking brand new.

Block Pavers are also an affordable driveway or patio solution, especially when compared to some of our more premium Decorative Chippings. It's easy to work out the amount of Block Paving you need, and you only need the sub-base and one layer of Paving. Whereas, when it comes to laying garden stones like Shingle, you need a sub-base and a very thick layer of stones.

Lastly, Block Paving comes in many colour choices, including Grey Block Paving, Black Block Paving and Beige Block Paving. There are also two natural stone options, as well as 20mm Porcelain Cobble Setts, which are a very similar alternative.

What is the Difference Between Block Paving and Cobble Setts?

The biggest difference between Block Paving and Cobble Setts is that Block Paving is 50mm thick and therefore can be used for walkways and driveways, which is not possible with Cobble Setts, which are much thinner and so cannot withstand the weight and too much traffic. As a result of their more delicate nature, cobble setts are best utilised as borders, stepping stones and decoration rather than a heavy-duty functional paving method.

Looking After Your Paving

Limestone and Sandstone is a natural stone and as a result of that, the slabs will discolour and change to a slightly lighter shade of blue over time.

However, there are ways to hinder the fading process and in order to ensure the colours remain as fresh and vivid as possible, we highly recommend purchasing a sealer alongside your order with us to ensure the natural colour remains for years to come.

Sandstone and Limestone Differences

What is the Difference Between Limestone and Sandstone Paving?

There are several qualities between Limestone and Sandstone Paving Slabs that are very similar and this is because both of these paving slabs derive from natural stone quarries based in India where large forms of natural stone have developed over thousands of years.

As the more economical option, Limestone is a tad bit more brittle in comparison to Sandstone. But please don't forget that once Limestone has been installed, the durability will be the same as Sandstone Paving, therefore you won't need to worry about the slabs getting damaged.

One factor to take note of is that Limestone will naturally discolour as time passed, whether or not you have applied Sealant to the slabs. And this eventual fading does require some maintenance and TLC to retain the original colour as long as possible. Maintaining the original colours in Sandstone Paving is a little easier in comparison.

We supply a varied range of Sandstone and Limestone Paving that come in different types and styles. We supply Sandstone and Limestone paving slabs in a Weathered Paving version, with Sandstone Paving slabs can also be bought as Sawn Paving too. If you also want matching garden edging or a nice patio paving border, matching Cobble Setts are also available for both Sandstone and Limestone Paving.

Taking all these factors into consideration deciding between Sandstone Paving or Limestone Paving, it really depends on the colours you are looking for, and whether or not you are not bothered about your Indian Limestone fading over time. Both require the same upkeep and have a lovely rustic look to them.

Why Choose our Natural Paving

Our paving slabs are calibrated to a 22mm depth which ensures perfect size consistency, long-lasting durability and high quality when laying the slabs.

These slabs are much more porous than other paving materials, especially when compared to Porcelain Paving slabs. This high porosity is a result of the fact that Limestone and Sandstone are naturally developed stones and because of this they will also show signs of discolouration as well, but fear not! Using a sealer can "lock in" the colour of your slabs for years to come.
