How to Create a Rockery Water Feature

Rather than purchasing a manufactured Water Feature, you can consider a hand-made one and give yourself a project to work on. There are a variety of methods you can follow to create an affordable water feature - you can choose to make a small pond, or a mini waterfall - it will completely customisable to what your preferences are.

To create a simple pond, all you'd need to do is get your hands on an old laundry basket, or a large ceramic pot, fill it up with water and you'll have yourselves a mini, self-contained pond. Make sure to line the container with a secure, geo-fabric to make sure that no water escapes.

There are also many plants available that grow in and around water that you can choose to add even more character to your pond.

You can also choose to create a feature that will look like a mini waterfall. To create such a feature and to ensure it looks professionally done, we would suggest you use a solar-powered pump for the flowing water. These pumps are often sold in a variety of different strengths so you can choose to have a calmer, soft flow of water or something a little louder and stronger.

Or if a little bit more drama is more to your taste, then you may choose to go with a solar-powered fountain alongside your water feature or pond. This need not be too complicated, all you'd need is to upcycle an old trough and add in a fountain with decorative stones surrounding it. It will truly seem like it was completed by an expert.

Finally, if you desire to create a little water feature to attract wildlife to your garden, you can also achieve that fairly simply. All that you require is a small pot of water which you can install and decorate around with decorative stones to make it more attractive. This will work well as a simple yet effective bird bath, which they will love during the summer months.
