Porcelain and Sandstone Paving slabs are two very different types of pavers, with the biggest difference being their material. Porcelain Paving is a man-made product developed in factories that have been designed to imitate natural paving slabs, but with more modern qualities that sandstone and limestone don't possess. Our Sienna™ Porcelain Paving range has been developed to the highest standard possible, and this has been done through the process of vitrifying. Vitrifying refers to the part of the production process where precious minerals like Quartz are mixed with pure clay and then blasted to 1200 degrees Celcius which ensures their superior durability and allows for very little absorption. As a result these qualities often lead to Porcelain paving being compared to glass. Following the vitrification process, the porcelain slabs are fully non-porous and water-proof. Furthermore, they are now mould, moss and frost resistant as well. The R11 skid value ensures that even when wet these slabs won't be slippery making them perfect around a pool or during monsoon season. In comparison, Sandstone Paving is a naturally derived product, cultivated from stone quarries in India. These natural stones are permeable and therefore intake water much more easily.
