Azpects Easy Joint, Mushroom
EASYJoint is a leading jointing producer, loved by landscapers and homeowners alike, they have become a household name by creating the original sweep-in jointing Compound. EASYJoint has continued to be the only "All Weather Paving Joint Compound" available and produced in the UK. Over the years the adaptability and versatility have cemented Easy Joint as an irreplaceable material when it comes to paving and landscaping.
Besides Mushroom, the Easy Joint also comes in a number of different shades, altogether they are able to cover a large amount of paving shades and therefore giving you plenty of options to choose from. The Easy Joint is available in Stone Grey, Buff Sand and Basalt. Between these colours, you should be covered no matter what your paving looks like.
Easy Joint grout is simple to use and apply, effective and puts that extra touch to your paving, giving it a tidy finish. Suitable to use on both Sandstone and Limestone (natural) and Porcelain Paving. The only factor you have to take into consideration is that there needs to be a 3mm gap in the jointing at a minimum for this to work appropriately. We think that 5mm is the perfect amount of gap, but please make sure that it's not less than 3, and please ensure that the joint is 25mm deep.
As mentioned above, the Easy Joint is very straightforward to use. All you need to do is moistened the paving with water before you start, then sweep and wash the compound into the joints at a reasonably fast pace, letting the water do the work. This job is easy enough that it can be completed by those who have little DIY experience.
The Mushroom compound is a light beige, almost sandy coloured. It will be suitable for paving that is paler, such as white or cream; or if you add some drama you can contrast it with darker paving such as anthracite.
How to Use EasyJoint
As we have mentioned above, it is easy to use EasyJoint to add grouting to your paving. We have created a small and straightforward guide to help you start, especially if this is your first time using this product.
Step 1 – To begin with you are required to assess your paving and measure and check that the joints are at a minimum, 3mm wide, we strongly advise 5mm, and 20mm in depth.
Step 2 – If you have chosen natural stone for your patios, such as Sandstone and Limestone, then you need to make sure you wet the stones before you start. A hose pipe will be sufficient, or a watering can if you don't have a watering system.
Step 3 – After you have made sure the paving is thoroughly wet, pour out the EasyJoint onto the paving.
Step 4 – Add water to the grout to create a slurry.
Step 5 – As you are watering the compound, simultaneously begin sweeping the compound into the joints. Be fast and rigorous when doing this because you want to push them into the joints before they get dry. It is best to work with a 2nd person so one person can brush the compound into the joints while the other is pouring water on the paving when needed.
Step 6 – Don’t worry about overusing the Easy Joint, use as much as you need to and if you have used up all the product, pour more of the compound onto the slabs and keep working until all the gaps are properly filled. Be careful and speedy if you are undertaking this project during the summer months because that would make the compound dry more quickly making you work even faster.
Step 7 – Repeat until all the gaps in your paving have been filled. Once that's completed, give your paving another spray to get rid of the residue on the paving. This will compress the grout even further, making it more secure and seamless and also make your paving look glossy and new
Step 8 – Finally, smooth over the jointing with a pointer tool to give your paving a professional finish.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is not suitable for poorly draining or persistently wet site conditions. It is a natural product that allows water to permeate through. The product when freshly laid will be bright in colour but because of its permeability, it may over time become dirty and change in appearance. Some natural growth of algae and mould can occur, which can generally be easily cleaned away.
The compressive strength of EASYJoint is such that it will adequately take the downward forces exerted by pedestrians & domestic cars but is not designed to form a structural part of the path/driveway. The integrity of the project can only be maintained if the surface material is adequately bedded into the base, which in turn is constructed to an appropriate specification.
