Eco-Conscious Materials

Wessex® Verde Evolved Composite Decking has been made in a sustainable way that is kinder to the environment than traditional timber decking boards. It is derived from Recycled Plastics (HDPE), which make up 35% of the composite plastic. Recycled Hard Wood is the main material, accounting for 55% of the board. Additives are then added to ensure these decking boards will stand the test of time and remain UV resistant. This eco-friendly make-up has earned it the title of WPC Composite Decking.

How to Measure

Measure the width & length of the area in metres and multiply these numbers together to get the total square meterage of the area.

1 evolved 3.6m deck board = 0.53 sqm coverage

Now divide the 0.53 sqm coverage total square meterage by 0.53. This will give you the approximate amount of deck boards required.

Please see our useful Square Metre Guide below. Always round up to the next whole number of boards when calculating. Also allow for approximately 5% wastage. 

Measuring the end boards

Measure the total perimeter of the area.

1 evolved range end board = 3.6m long

Now divide the total perimeter by 3.6m and round up to the next whole number. This will give you the total amount of end boards required.

Storage Tips

• Ensure all deck boards are stacked neatly to minimise risk of the boards falling over & becoming damaged.
• All boards should be stored off the floor on top of level supports spaced at no more than 300mm centres.
• All boards should be covered to protect them from weathering / dirt.

Handling Tips

• Take additional care & precautions when moving / lifting the decking to avoid any unnecessary scratches and or chips.
• Keep your work area as organised and tidy as possible. This will help to avoid any waste materials / debris from affecting your decking.
• Composite products are modulated by temperature. Allow 24hours to pass prior to installing your deck. This will allow your deck boards to climatise to the outside environment.

Subframe Tips

• All joist centres should not exceed 300mm with noggins no more than 600mm centres
• When using timber for your subframe ... ensure that all joists are supported correctly.

• We recommend using our Deck Tape on top of your timber joists to prolong their lifespan.

• Verde DOUBLE JOIST A double joist will be required when 2 deck boards meet (butt-joints).
