Helping Livability Holton Lee Flourish
On the Monday 27th January, we donated 5 bulk bags of our high quality Eco Compost to the disability charity; Livability Holton Lee. Following their plans to expand their growing space and build raised beds to make the garden more accessible to everyone, this donation has been a huge help to them. With all the work they carry out to connect the community, it was our pleasure to donate our Eco Compost and we are looking to deliver 6 more bulk bags with a 20% discount.
Who are Livability Holton Lee?
Livability Holton Lee is a wellbeing discovery centre set in 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. Visitors are invited to discover opportunities for personal growth through access to engaging activities and connecting with nature. From gardening, forestry therapy, arts and ceramics, bird watching, walking and accessible camping, visitors can benefit from an inclusive and supportive community. The centre is open to the general community and also has a particular understanding of disability and mental health.
One of the wellbeing programmes they run is called Flourish, whom Dr Anna Sweeney is the Team Leader and Horticultural Therapist. In this programme, people learn new skills, build their confidence, become more physically active and enjoy new friendships.
The community supports over 60 individuals each week, some of whom are living with mental health issues, disabilities and others who want to improve their wellbeing. They run a 2 acre market garden that promotes biodiversity and grows fruit and vegetables for the our community.
“The donated 5 large bags of eco compost has been used for this new area and has been a massive help, allowing us to cover a third of the area. We were very impressed with this product…” – Dr Anna Sweeney, Flourish Team Leader and Horticultural Therapist
With many people living with mental health disabilities, it can feel isolating and very difficult to deal with, so we think the work that Livability Holton Lee carry out is massively important and life-changing to many people.
We also recognise the importance of getting outside in the fresh air and amongst nature and the positive effects it has on both physical and mental wellbeing.
It was a great pleasure to donate to such an inspirational charity and we look forward to seeing Flourish’s raised beds filled with lots of different plants!
