Andy Hopkins AKA 'Nipper'
Transport ManagerMaking him one of the longest standing employees, Andy joined the company over 15 years ago as the driver of our 7.5 tonne tipper. He then passed his class 2 HGV licences and took a 4 year break. Andy then returned as part of our customer advisors team at Ferndown. Shortly after returning, Andy then went and managed our yard at St Leonards for 4 years building up the recycling side of the business. He then returned back on the road driving the grab lorry. Finally, he has now returned his position of maintaining our Distribution Yard in Ferndown! Andy has certainly seen lots of varied roles in the business, and has the ironic nickname of 'Nipper'!
What’s your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of my job is using my driving experience to help me with my Transport role. Every day is different; from sorting the routes in a more cost-effective way for the company and the challenge of saving on time and fuel. I enjoy keeping the yard stocked with Aggregates for our loose load and bagged deliveries, as well as booking 8 weekly checks with our service providers for our trucks to keep them fit for the road.
What’s your favourite product we sell?
With such a vast array of products it's hard to pick a favourite, from the sandstone and porcelain slabs to the decorative stones there is so many to choose from.
What’s your favourite colour?
Blue
What would your dream garden look like?
Nothing too flash, room for the kids to play, a nice patio with a BBQ area and a hot tub to unwind and relax.
If you could have any super power what would it be?
To be able to see into the future!
If you won a million pounds, what would you do with it?
I'd invest in a few properties, I'd like to get a nice camper van and do some more travelling, help the family out and give a few quid to friends
